Found this great spot from the highway. Drove down a side road and there it was. I loved the fence, as it was made out of wood, tree stumps, and anything else that would hold the cows in. The clouds were getting darker and it was starting to rain, so I didn't try going into the field - though I would have loved to see it from the other side. Maybe next time.

The train - stopped for the weekend. Monday morning, there will be men aboard, climbing on top, and finishing the loading. By Monday night, there will be another train....with the same process.

Tools of American Industry
I loved these grain bins. Several people have asked what they are. In case you don't know already, I'll tell you. Grain bins are where all the farmers from miles around bring their corn, wheat, soybeans...ect. These things will hold thousands of ponds of grain. Then they're loaded onto the train - you can see it in the background... and shipped off to who knows where.
It's American Industry at work. Within an hour, men would be on the walkways, on top of the train, loading grain, and making themselves quite busy. These are huge tools - tools that feed a nation.

Rural Tennessee

Ironically, rural America has become viewed by a growing number of Americans as having a higher quality of life not because of what it has, but rather because of what it does not have!  ~Don A. Dillman

This is an oil lantern. No electricity or solar power here!
I was at an artist's house last week. She had turned a barn into a very nice place! The outside looked might have looked like a shed, but indoors, it was clean, beautiful, creative and oh so pretty. But knowing me, the one thing that stood out was this oil lamp on the front porch. I like to imagine that the sons and fathers might have once used it to light their way home after their long hunting trips. And even if they didn't, it just looks so neat...

Rural Farm, Martin, TN

Since this is the photo that inspired my project, I thought it only fitting to open the blog with the same image. I hope that this new adventure will only grow bigger and bigger. Flickr is my most active photo spot, but my project needs a home, and this is it. :)
